Discover the art of Kintsugi — by Julien Salut

Traditional catering, philosophy of resilience and upcoming opening of a tasting & workshop space in Nice.

What is Kintsugi?

Repairing the ceramic with a natural lacquer ( urushi ) and then a metallic powder—traditionally gold—revealing the scar instead of hiding it. A dialogue between imperfect beauty and the art of tea.

Approach & know-how

Japanese techniques, preparation of lacquers, filling, successive sanding, application of gold/silver, manual finishing. A sublime piece, ready for a new aesthetic and usage chapter.

Course

Colombia (pastry shops & tea rooms: La Ganache, 7tea4) → France (Oingt, Beaujolais: Mikazukidō) → Maison Dō Thé → today THÉ.ŌLOGY , union of original tea & Kintsugi.

The 3-step process

  1. Contact : Send clear photos + intended use.
  2. Quotes & planning : precise estimates, deadlines related to drying the lacquers.
  3. Restoration & return : traditional technique, maintenance advice, hand delivery or shipping.
