CompositionVata grounding through roots

The Vata dosha is linked to cold and movement. To balance it, this organic recipe uses dense and warming materials, with no added flavor.

The root base

Ginger and licorice root form the backbone of the blend. Ginger provides an immediate rising heat, while licorice adds a syrupy texture and a natural sweetness that envelops the palate.

The woody structure

Cinnamon brings its warm bark notes, complemented by anise and coriander which add a slight vegetal dimension. Cornflower blossoms finish the composition with a touch of visual elegance.

Know-howMy selection of raw materials

I formulated this blend avoiding overly fine cuts that oxidize quickly. The spices here are calibrated to withstand boiling water and gradually release their essential oils.

TipsMy extraction protocol

Reference preparation

Roots require water at 100°C. Use 2.5 grams of blend for 250 ml of water. Let infuse for 5 to 10 minutes. The longer the infusion, the more pronounced the ginger’s spiciness and the licorice’s sweetness.

The artisan method: Decoction

For optimal results in the middle of winter, place the spices in a pot of cold water, bring to a boil, and let simmer for 15 minutes. This technique produces an almost syrupy liquor, enhancing the warming properties of the blend.

The art of sharing: Decoction is an artisan’s secret to turning a simple herbal tea into a true comfort remedy. Share this method with your loved ones to face the winter months.
FAQFrequently Asked Questions
Sugar Does this infusion contain added sugar?

No sugar is added. The strong sweet sensation in the mouth comes exclusively from the licorice root, which provides a natural sweetness that wraps the spiciness of the ginger.

Blood pressure Is licorice not recommended for high blood pressure?

Licorice root contains glycyrrhizin, which can affect blood pressure at very high doses. At one or two cups a day, it remains controlled. If you are on heavy antihypertensive treatment, consult your doctor.

Iced Can it be drunk as an iced infusion?

I don’t recommend it directly. These raw roots need heat to release their compounds. If you want a cold version, first make a hot decoction, then let it cool.

Re-infusion Can the spices be re-infused?

Yes, the roots and barks are generous. You can make a second infusion by increasing the time to 12 minutes, or better yet, use the leftovers for a decoction on the stove.
