UsageInstructions & Care
Recommended Use
This teapot is suitable for all types of Japanese green teas such as sencha, gyokuro, or bancha, as well as white teas, oolongs, and black teas. Place 2 to 3 teaspoons of leaves in the removable stainless steel filter. Pour water at the temperature appropriate for your tea. The spout ensures precise pouring without splashes. The 400ml capacity allows serving two generous cups or multiple successive infusions.
Care
Daily Cleaning: Rinse the teapot and filter with warm water immediately after use. Avoid letting the infused leaves sit to preserve the purity of future flavors.
Deep Cleaning: Dishwasher safe for thorough weekly cleaning. You can also wash by hand with a soft sponge and mild dish soap.
Precautions: Avoid sudden thermal shocks by never pouring boiling water directly into a cold teapot. Do not use abrasive products that could scratch the artisanal enamel.
Compatibility
The fine stainless steel filter effectively retains all leaves, even the smallest like leaf matcha green tea or rooibos. Compatible with stovetops for gently warming your tea, and with microwaves for quick reheating without the metal filter.
QualityMaterials & Expertise
Selected Materials
Minoyaki porcelain comes from the rich clay deposits in the Tōnō region of Gifu Prefecture. This high-quality clay, rich in natural minerals, allows firing at very high temperatures, creating a dense, non-porous, and extremely durable ceramic. The Forest Glaze enamel provides a soothing forest green hue achieved through natural metal oxides. The food-grade stainless steel filter ensures optimal filtration without altering the taste and resists corrosion over time.
Manufacturing Process
Each piece is hand-shaped or wheel-thrown by ceramic artisans from Gifu, continuing a 1300-year-old tradition. After shaping and drying, the teapot undergoes an initial firing between 700 and 800 degrees Celsius. The Forest Glaze enamel is then applied manually before the final high-temperature firing. Slight irregularities in size, texture, and color reflect this artisanal process and make each piece unique.

FAQFrequently Asked Questions
UsageHow do I use this teapot for the first time?
For first use, rinse the teapot and stainless steel filter thoroughly with warm water to remove any residual dust from transport. No prior seasoning is necessary, unlike unglazed clay teapots. You can start immediately by placing your tea leaves in the filter, pouring water at the recommended temperature for your tea, then letting it steep for the desired time. Remove the filter after steeping to avoid bitterness and serve directly.
CareIs it dishwasher safe?
Yes, this Minoyaki porcelain teapot is dishwasher safe. Place it on the top rack to avoid shocks. The stainless steel filter can also be washed in the dishwasher without risk of corrosion. To preserve the shine of the Forest Glaze enamel over time, choose a gentle cycle with moderate temperature. However, rinsing by hand with warm water after each use remains the gentlest and quickest method for optimal daily care.
CompatibilityWhat types of tea can I use it with?
This teapot is suitable for all types of teas. It is especially suited for Japanese green teas like sencha, gyokuro, bancha, or genmaicha for which it was designed. You can also brew delicate white teas, fragrant oolongs, robust black teas, rooibos, or herbal infusions. The fine mesh stainless steel filter even retains the smallest particles. Simply rinse between each type of tea to avoid unwanted flavor mixing.
DurabilityHow long does this teapot last?
With proper care, this Minoyaki porcelain teapot can last several decades or even a lifetime. The high-temperature firing creates a dense ceramic resistant to cracks. The vitrified enamel does not chip and retains its Forest Glaze color without alteration. The food-grade stainless steel filter is rustproof and does not deform. Simply avoid sudden thermal shocks and drops on hard surfaces. Many Minoyaki ceramics pass through generations while maintaining their beauty and functionality intact.
DimensionsIs this 400ml capacity suitable for my needs?
The 400ml capacity corresponds to about two standard 200ml cups of tea each, or one large generous cup for personal use. It is the ideal size for solo tasting with the option to refill, or to share a moment with two people. If you often host more than two guests, consider a larger capacity. For daily personal or couple use, this size offers the best balance between practicality, compactness, and optimal brewing quality.
QualityWhat materials are used and why?
The body of the teapot is made from Gifu Minoyaki porcelain, renowned for its density, durability, and flavor neutrality that never alters the delicate flavors of tea. This high-quality clay is fired at very high temperatures, creating a non-porous glassy structure. The Forest Glaze enamel is made from natural metal oxides for a durable and stable color. The food-grade stainless steel filter is chosen for its corrosion resistance, neutrality, and fine filtration that retains all leaves without clogging.
