Bamboo Chashaku – Traditional Matcha Spoon
The Chashaku (茶杓) is the bamboo spoon used for centuries in the Japanese tea ceremony ( chanoyu ). Hand-carved from carefully selected bamboo, it allows you to precisely measure the ideal amount of ceremonial matcha to prepare your drink.
Features
- Handcrafted from natural bamboo
- Curved shape for precise and elegant dosing
- Average length: about 18 cm
- An essential accessory for the Japanese tea ritual
Why use a Chashaku?
Unlike a classic spoon, the Chashaku allows you to measure without tamping the powder, thus preserving the fineness of the matcha . Traditionally, two measures of chashaku are used to prepare a usucha (light matcha) and three to four for a koicha (thick matcha).
Interview
- Wipe gently with a dry cloth after use
- Do not wash with water or use detergents
- Store in a dry place away from moisture
Pair your chashaku with a traditional chasen and matcha bowl (chawan) to recreate the complete Japanese tea ceremony experience at home.
